Legacy Ministry

Why Legacy Ministry?

Dr. Hollingsworth explains…

Baptist Foundation staff conducts informative legacy planning programs for South Carolina church groups and associational ministries. Whether you need a short program for your monthly senior adult or other special meeting, a Sunday School or Sunday evening presentation, a pulpit filler, or a multiple session workshop, the Foundation’s professional staff can customize a program to suit your group’s needs and time frames. Our programs emphasize Christian stewardship principles to include provision for loved ones and ministry.  Session presenters share stories and present these programs in an easy-to-understand format that attendees will enjoy.

At every session, participants will have the opportunity to schedule appointments for personal planning through PhilanthroCorp.  Participants, however, are under no obligation to use these services and will feel no pressure.  Planning services through PhilanthroCorp are offered through the ministry of the Foundation and provide a way for participants to receive Christian estate planning at no charge.  (Participants can greatly reduce attorney’s fees by having their plans in place before execution. In addition, if a participant does not have an attorney, PhilanthroCorp can refer an attorney to complete documents at reduced fees.)

Legacy programs are conducted at YOUR church (or location you desire) at a date and time convenient to YOUR group. There is NO cost and NO obligation to use the Foundation’s services. In fact, when discussing financial matters, the Foundation staff will always promote ways to give to YOUR church or ministry. The Foundation will even provide promotional materials to help you promote your program! To schedule a program, complete the form at the bottom of this page!

Program Types Include:

Legacy Conversation – A Legacy Conversation is a simple, conversational program, often conducted in conjunction with a meal, that is typically conducted for church leadership and deeply connected membership. A conversation focuses on legacy giving as an act of Biblical stewardship and how legacy giving can impact the future of the church. A conversation focuses less on the mechanics of estate planning and more on stewardship of lifetime assets.

Wills, Trusts, and Grandmas China – Surveys indicate that approximately 70% of Americans do not have an up-to-date Last Will and Testament. Anyone (old and young alike) who owns property needs a Will. If you don’t have a Will, the State will decide how to divide YOUR assets and it might not be how YOU would have wished. Learn how to develop an estate plan and what important legal and tax information to consider when planning your estate.

Your Estate Planning Bucket List – This fun and interactive program discusses those essential things that every individual needs to include in their “bucket list” to prepare for family and financial matters before they pass away.

Getting Your House In Order – When an individual becomes ill and eventually passes away, there are so many decisions to be made, from life sustaining issues to handling finances to eventual distribution of assets. This program discusses those things that you can do now to reduce the burden of decision-making on family members.

Legacy Giving . . . Opportunities for Service – Giving is an opportunity to serve God through your commitment of financial resources to further Kingdom work here on Earth. Many individuals want to provide for their church or other ministry, but don’t feel they have the resources to commit to the cause. Learn about some creative giving methods – from endowments, giving through your Will, giving through life insurance, alternative giving sources (such as stocks or real property) or living trusts and annuities that provide life income for you and, in some cases, children.
