This is a charcoal sketching kit by Daler Rowney that I got to branch out in my traditional art but I never got into charcoal and haven't touched these in a long time.
The soft charcoal does have a crack, I assume it might have come from being dropped or moved around.
I would highly recommend this kit for anyone who is interested in traditional art or simply wanting to try charcoal!
